Understanding the Replacement Process
A professional roof replacement involves more than pulling off old shingles and nailing down new ones. The contractors in our network follow a comprehensive process: complete tear-off of existing layers (or assessment of whether a recover is appropriate and code-compliant), inspection and repair of the underlying decking, installation of a proper underlayment system with ice-and-water shield in vulnerable zones, and finally installation of the new roofing material.
In Illinois, the International Residential Code requires ice-and-water shield to extend a minimum of 24 inches inside the exterior wall line — a detail that storm-chasers and under-qualified contractors often skip. Every contractor we refer to Mokena homeowners is expected to meet or exceed code, and they pull required Will County permits so the work is inspected.
